PC players might not have to wait as long as expected to play Grand Theft Auto 6. A new report suggests that Rockstar Games is planning to release the PC version of GTA 6 during the first quarter of 2027. If the information turns out to be correct, players could get their hands on the game just a few months after its console launch.
The report comes from GamesBeat, which claims to have spoken with four industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans. However, the company has not officially announced a PC release date yet, so fans should treat this information as a rumor for now.
Here's everything we know about the reported GTA 6 PC release window and what it could mean for players.
GTA 6 PC Release Date Reportedly Set for Early 2027
According to the GamesBeat report published on October 13, 2026, Rockstar Games is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for the PC version of GTA 6. This means the game could arrive sometime between January and March 2027.
The report cites four sources who are reportedly familiar with the studio's plans. All four chose to remain anonymous to avoid affecting their business relationships. Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat's request for comment before the report was published.
For now, there is no confirmed launch date for the PC version. Rockstar could also change its plans during development, so players should wait for an official announcement before making any purchase decisions.
When Is GTA 6 Releasing on PS5 and Xbox?
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
If the reported PC release window is accurate, computer players could get the game between two and four months after the console launch. That would be a much shorter wait than many fans expected.
Rockstar has traditionally released its major games on consoles before bringing them to PC. This strategy allows the studio to focus on the initial console release before working on the PC version.
However, the company has not confirmed whether it will follow this reported schedule for GTA 6.
GTA 6 PC Release Could Be Much Faster Than GTA 5
One reason this report has caught the attention of PC gamers is Rockstar's previous release schedule.
GTA 5 first launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. The PC version arrived in April 2015, meaning computer players had to wait around 19 months after the original release.
If GTA 6 arrives on PC in early 2027, the gap could be reduced to just a few months.
This would be a major change from the previous game and could make waiting for the PC version a more attractive option for players who prefer gaming on their computers.
Of course, the reported release window has not been confirmed, and Rockstar could still choose a different launch date.
Will GTA 6 Have Better Graphics on PC?
Many players prefer the PC platform because it offers more control over graphics settings, resolution, and performance. A dedicated PC version could give players more options to adjust the game according to their hardware.
Players with powerful gaming computers may also hope for higher frame rates, improved visual settings, and support for ultrawide displays.
However, Rockstar has not announced the PC version's technical features or system requirements. It is too early to say how the game will perform on different computers or what improvements the PC edition will include.
Fans will have to wait for official details before knowing what hardware will be needed to run the game comfortably.
Could GTA 6 Online Also Arrive on PC in 2027?
An early PC release could also raise questions about the future of GTA 6's online mode.
If Rockstar brings the PC version out in the first quarter of 2027, players may wonder whether the online experience will launch around the same period. However, the reported PC release window does not confirm the timing of GTA 6 Online.
Rockstar has not officially announced a release date for the online mode or confirmed that it will launch alongside the PC version.
For now, players should treat any connection between the PC release and the online launch as speculation rather than confirmed information.
Should PC Players Wait for GTA 6?
If you already own a gaming PC and prefer playing on it, waiting for more information could be a sensible decision. The reported early 2027 window suggests that the wait might be shorter than it was for GTA 5.
Buying a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S just to play GTA 6 at launch may not be necessary if the PC version arrives within a few months. However, this depends entirely on whether Rockstar follows the reported schedule.
Players who want to experience the game as soon as it launches may still prefer the console versions. Those who care more about PC-specific features might be better off waiting for an official announcement.
For now, PC players have a reason to be hopeful, but nothing is official yet. If Rockstar really is targeting Q1 2027, the wait for GTA 6 on PC could be much shorter than it was for GTA 5. Until the studio shares more details, fans should keep an eye out for an official announcement.
